Do I need Ballad before Sunrise?
Optional before Sunrise (2026). Ballad (2023 film / 2020 book) adds 10th Games context; you can skip it for a short catch-up. Not required.
Skip Ballad if…
- You are short on time before opening weekend
- You only care about Katniss-era stories right now
- You prefer going in “cold” on prequel lore
Watch/read Ballad if…
- You want 10th Games context before the 50th
- You already finished the trilogy and want more Panem
- You like chronological rewatches
We will not spoil Ballad’s ending or Sunrise’s plot. Treat Ballad as enrichment, not a homework gate.
